More organizations are moving to cloud-based platforms across their enterprise systems for enhanced functionality, greater efficiencies as well as a better employee experience. Human Capital Management Systems are an important part of this paradigm shift.
Research from Gartner shows that spending in the worldwide cloud market will increase 18% this year, to $246.8 billion. It also predicts software as a service to grow 20.1% to $46.3 billion in 2017. *
At Emtec, we are seeing a sharp uptick in interest in cloud, mobile and other digital technologies. Human Resources teams, specifically, are looking to modernize their HCM applications and processes to provide an enhanced user experience and better compete for talent.
In this blog post, we highlight four Emtec clients from various industries and with different legacy systems who decided that cloud was the next step in their HCM journey and the benefits realized.
PeopleSoft/ Oracle HCM Cloud Coexistence
After upgrading to PeopleSoft 9.1 in 2015, a large IT hardware reseller immediately realized it needed a bit more from its HCM system. Instead of rushing onto an entirely new platform, the company worked with Emtec to build a business case for the enhanced Compensation and Talent Management it required, as well as the evaluation of HCM applications to make a move to the cloud.
The company piloted and ultimately decided to update to PeopleSoft 9.2 and migrate its compensation and talent systems to Oracle HCM Cloud. The cloud coexistence model is working well and it enables the company to take advantage of some of the benefits of the cloud while still maintaining the investment in their legacy ERP and HCM application- PeopleSoft.
Legacy EBS to Oracle HCM Cloud
A medical equipment manufacturer engaged the Emtec team to upgrade its EBS platform to facilitate new FDA documentation requirements. After evaluating options, the mid-sized company ultimately decided to migrate most of its systems to Oracle HCM Cloud to achieve a scalable, single-system environment for all its software, as well as tighter integration with third-party systems.
The move to the cloud also required development of interfaces with ADP for payroll, Kronos for time and attendance, and other benefits providers. Their efforts in moving to the cloud were worth it, as the company now has fully integrated data in a single system of record, which they can now leverage to meet FDA requirements moving forward.
PeopleSoft HCM migration to Oracle HCM Cloud
As part of a larger innovation initiative to distinguish itself in the marketplace and provide an employee hub, a Fortune 500 property management company looked to migrate their PeopleSoft HCM environment to a cloud platform. Its end-game was a single, scalable, global platform to enable the automation of approvals, as well as transaction and document routing via system driven workflows and tighter integration.
Working with Emtec, they selected Oracle HCM Cloud to help modernize its legacy applications and increase self-service capabilities for its employees. The company engaged Emtec to migrate applications including Core HR, Recruiting, Onboarding, Benefits, Payroll, Compensation Planning and Talent to the cloud.
Green Screen Payroll & Paper to Oracle HCM Cloud
A large distributor of plumbing, heating and industrial supplies resided in paper processes across its various individual business functions and 360 locations. This inhibited operational efficiencies as well as future growth. They engaged Emtec to determine the best strategy for rolling out a cloud-based ERP and HCM environment, including evaluating their current business challenges and requirements and the integrations that would enable standardized business process across the enterprise.
Through an evaluation, they decided on Oracle HCM Cloud and later, ERP Cloud. Emtec helped the organization migrate to a new custom cloud environment including Financials, HCM including Recruiting, and Payroll which now reside in a single system of truth. This has enabled faster financial reporting, reduced IT costs and provided a platform for growth.
These four organizations all have successfully implemented Oracle HCM Cloud including integration with their ERP and other HCM systems as well as other third-party providers. But they didn’t choose to go it alone.
